Africa’s leading travel technology company, Wakanow, has announced its partnership with the 21st Akwaaba African Travel Market, which will be held from 14–16 September 2025 at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

Often described as the “go-to marketplace” for African tourism, Akwaaba is West Africa’s largest travel exhibition, attracting over 3,000 participants each year. Tourism boards, airlines, hotels, travel companies and industry leaders gather under one roof to network, exchange ideas and shape the future of travel across the continent.

For Wakanow, the collaboration is more than a sponsorship—it is a statement of intent. Since its founding in 2008, the company has pioneered innovations that simplify travel for Africans, from PaySmallSmall, its flexible travel financing plan, to WakaPoints loyalty rewards and WakaEvents ticketing. Today, the brand provides everything from flight bookings and hotel reservations to visa assistance, tour packages and expert travel advisory.

With a presence in Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, the UAE, the USA and Canada, Wakanow has grown into a truly pan-African enterprise. Its recognition as Travel Company of the Year in West Africa at Accra Weizo underscores its impact on the industry. Backed by global investors including the Carlyle Group, Wakanow continues to push the boundaries of what travel technology can achieve for African travellers.

Speaking at the forthcoming event, Wakanow management expressed enthusiasm about Akwaaba’s role as a strategic platform for showcasing Africa’s tourism potential, promoting intra-African travel and strengthening networks across the sector.

This year’s 21st Akwaaba African Travel Market promises vibrant exhibitions, thought-provoking panel sessions, B2B meetings and unmatched networking opportunities—all aimed at shaping the future of tourism in West Africa.
